Senior Spotlights

For O.D. Wyatt High School senior Solomon Sang, graduation is more than a ceremony; it’s a milestone shaped by resilience, faith, and community. 

Born into a Malaysian immigrant family, Sang moved to the United States as an infant and was raised in a close-knit community that is today known as Monarch Pass in Fort Worth. The relationships he built there helped define who he is today. “That whole community is family,” he said. “That’s what helped shape who I am now.”

After attending multiple school districts, Sang returned to Fort Worth ISD before high school. Along the way, he faced personal and family challenges that tested his focus and determination. “I was lost for a while,” he said. “But I kept praying, and my family and mentors were always there for me.”

At Wyatt, Sang found support in teachers, mentors, and the GO Center, who helped guide him through both academic and personal challenges. Their encouragement helped him achieve one of his proudest accomplishments: earning his associate degree while still in high school. “There were times I wanted to give up,” he said, “but people kept reminding me I was almost there.”

Outside the classroom, Sang spends his time mentoring younger students through his church, building connections, and giving back to his community. He also served as captain of the Wyatt tennis team, where he learned that leadership is about bringing people together. “A leader makes an impact on the community,” he said. “Everybody matters.”

After high school, Sang plans to join the United States Air Force while pursuing a degree in engineering. As he looks ahead, Sang hopes to one day return to serve communities like his own. “I want to come back and help people from communities like mine,” he said. “I want to create more opportunities for them.”
